في كتابه أن هذا النبات هو الصبر حيث إن هذا النوع من النباتات الصحراوية الذي يعصر ويجفف عصيره بطرق مختلفة حتى يصبح قاسي ولماع وهو الصبر المعروف بطعمه المر ولونه المائل للبني الغامق ويستخدم لطلاء الجروح والدواحيس ومشروبه لحالات الإمساك وإزالة البثور وحب الشباب

ومن أهمها
§ أسيمانان (Acemannan ) : أن الأسيمانان هو بولي سكريد يذوب في الماء وهو يملك تأثيراً رافعا للمناعة الجسم وذلك عن طريق رفع نشاط الخلايا البلعمية و رفع أنتاج (Interleukin ) . كما أنه يلعب دوراً هاما في القضاء على خلايا السرطانية .
§ كاريزين (Carrysin ) : في عام 1985 استطاع الدكتور ماك أنابلي أن يعزل مادة جديدة من نبات الصبار , وأطلق عليها أسم كاريزين (Carrysin ) , ثم وجد فيما بعد أن الكاريزين قادر على رفع بعض البروستاغلاندينات التي تملك تأثيراً مضاد للالتهاب , و أنه يرفع من مقاومة الجسم ضد الالتهابات الجرثومية و يقلل من الإصابة بفيروس الهربس ( الحلأ ) , كما أن الدراسات الحديثة أكدت امتلاك الكاريزين تأثيرا مضاد لفيروس الايدز وهو حاليا يستخدم في مراكز علاج الايدز .
§ الوه ريد ( Aloeride) : وهو محرض مناعي يؤدي إلى رفع مناعة الجسم , وقد صنع منه دواء يباع في السوق الأوربية على شكل كبسولات و الذي يستخدم لعلاج اضطرابات المعدة , و لإسراع في التأم الجروح , كما أنه يستخدم كمحفز لجهاز المناعة وهو يؤخذ على الريق في الصباح و المساء بجرعة 1-2 كبسولة في اليوم
§ الغلوكازامين (Glucosamin ) : يستخدم لعلاج التهاب المفاصل .
§ الوه مانان ( Aloemannan ) : ويوجد منه دواء في الأسواق يباع تحت نفس الاسم على شكل كبسولات وهو يستخدم :
- لمعالجة مشاكل الجلد ( جميع أنواع الجروح , وحروق , وتأليل ) .
- لتحسين نمو الشعر و مرونة الجلد .
- لمعالجة الربو .
- لمعالجة أمراض العين ( قصر البصر , التهاب الملتحمة , التهاب القرنية)



2- أنتراكينونات (anthraquinones ) : يحوي نبات الصبار على 2% أنتراكينونات ومن أهمها

- أنتراسين و أنترانول ( ANTHRACENE , ANTHRANOL ) : يلعبان دورا كبيرا في عملية أكسجة الدم .
- الأيمودين ( EMODIN ) : يملك تأثيراً مضادا للجراثيم , مضاد للالتهاب , والسرطان , مضاد للتشنج , والقرحة المعدية , ومسهل .
- الوه يمودين (ALOE-EMODIN ) : مطهر , مسهل , وكما أكدت الدراسات فإنه يملك تأثيرا مضاد للجراثيم (Helicobacter pylori ) المسببة للقرحة المعدية .
- البربالوئين ويزوبربالوئين (BARBALOIN , ISOBARBALOIN ) : يملكان تأثيراً مضاد للجراثيم ومسهل ومضاد للتحسس , وبالإضافة إلى ذلك يملك اليزوبربالوئين تأثير مسكن للألم .
- الألوئين ( ALOIN ) : مضاد للفيروسات و مسكن للألم , طارح لحمض البول
- حمض الوه تيك (ALOETIC-ACID ) : صاد حيوي
- حمض الكريزوفانيك ( CHRYSOPHANIC-ACID ) : مضاد للفطور كما أنه يستخدم على شكل مرهم أوكريم لعلاج الصدف .
- الوه ولسين (Aloe-ulcin ): مضاد للقرحة المعدية .

3- أنزيمات :
- أميلازا , كاتالازا, كيراتين- فوسفاكينازا
- برادكينين : وهو يملك تأثيرا مسكن للألم , و مضاد للالتهاب , كما أنه رافع لجهاز المناعة .

4- الوه زين (aloesin ) : ويملك هذا المركب تأثير ا مضاد للالتهاب .

5 – حمضالصفصاف : مضاد للالتهاب .

ملاحظات :

إن حمض الكريزوفانيك ( CHRYSOPHANIC-ACID ) يستخدم لعلاج الصدف على شكل مراهم و كريمات وهو يشبه في صيغته الكيميائية مادة الدترانوا (Dithranol ) الذي ينتمي أيضاً إلى مجموعة الانترا كينونات والذي تنتجة كثير من الشركات كمرهم لعلاج الصدف .
